Are you curious about the changes that occur during recovery from an injury?
Here is a summary of the four phases of tissue healing:
1. Haemostasis - in this phase of healing an increased flow of blood to the injured region occurs. This assists in clotting around the injured region.
2. Inflammatory - the next phase reduces movement of the region by causing inflammation around the area which creates pain when we try to use or move it. It does this to protect the area from further damage.
3. Proliferation - this phase involves down laying of the foundations in preparation for repair. New fibres of tissue are laid over the injured area.
4. Tissue remodelling - this final stage of tissue healing involves the layers of proliferated tissue being re-organised in response to progressive tissue loading of the region.
Podiatrists stimulate the body’s natural healing process with the use of dry needling, shockwave therapy, mobilisation and taping.
This is part of our biomechanical, shockwave and injury protocol treatments.
If you are in any of these phases of injury recovery give us a call to discuss - there are treatment options that we can offer to complement your body’s natural healing process.
